BBQ Jackfruit

It took me a long time to appreciate jackfruit, but now that I figured out the best ways to cook it, I truly enjoy using jackfruit as a meat substitute.

Shopping List 

Ingredients

  • 1 x 20oz can green young jackfruit
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp granulated garlic
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce

Directions

  • Prepare the jackfruit. Drain the liquid. Remove seeds. Break down the jackfruit into smaller pieces
  • Coat with salt, garlic, onion powder, and cornstarch
  • In a cast iron pan, add a small amount of cooking oil and cook the jackfruit on medium until lightly browned and crispy
  • Add BBQ sauce to the jackfruit and cook until well combined and slightly caramelized

TIP: You can make this with your favorite sauce and add it to any recipe you like, as a meat replacement
