Cajun-Style Banana Blossom Sandwich
This is a take on a fish sandwich that has a crispy batter and the perfect amount of crunch!

Shopping List
Ingredients
- banana blossom (Upton's Naturals works well)
Marinade
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp nori flakes
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- to taste salt & pepper
Dry Batter
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup cornmeal
- 1 Tbsp cajun/creole seasoning
- to taste salt & pepper
Wet Batter
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup soda water
- 2 Tbsp vegan egg
- 2 tsp Old Bay seasoning
Roasted Red Bell Pepper Sauce
- 1 cup vegan mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup finely chopped roasted red bell peppers
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp granulated garlic
- to taste salt
Garnish Ingredients
- sandwich bread of choice
- dill pickle slices
- lettuce
- steak fries
Directions
- Mix together marinade ingredients and marinate banana blossom for 3-4 hours OR overnight, in the refrigerator, if possible. The longer you marinate, the more flavor it will have and the softer the texture will be.
- Mix together the ingredients for dry batter
- Mix together the ingredients for wet batter
- Dip banana blossom into dry batter and then wet batter
- Deep fry or air fry the banana blossom (I prefer to deep fry in grapeseed oil)
- Prep and mix together the sauce ingredients in a bowl
- Build your sandwich and enjoy!
