Baja California Kombucha Battered No Fish Tacos

Baja California Kombucha Battered No Fish Tacos (Rubios Style) Living in Southern California, I always grabbed Baja tacos from Rubios. This version is better because I tend to add more flavor to my recipes, and I didn't let up on the sauce and flavorful salsa.

Shopping List 

  • 1 14 oz jar Heart of Palm

Kombucha Wet Batter

  • 1 can of Brew Dr. Kombucha Clear Mind or Kombucha of choice
  • 1 + 1/4 cups of flour
  • 2 tsp of garlic powder
  • 2 tsp of onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp of chili powder
  • Lime zest

Dry Batter

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1/4 cup of arrowroot powder or cornstarch
  • 2 tsp of garlic powder
  • 2 tsp of onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp of chili powder
  • Lime zest

Additional Ingredients:

  • Lime juice
  • Salsa
  • Macadamia cream sauce or sauce of choice
  • Shredded cabbage
  • Chalupas or taco shells

Directions

  • Create the wet and dry batter on the side.
  • Smash the heart of the palm with a bowl or press to create a better texture.
  • Dip the heart of the palm in the dry batter first, then the wet batter, and fry until crispy.
  • Build tacos with shredded cabbage, the heart of palm, salsa, sauce, and lime zest, and enjoy!
